Oregon

6th Anniversary
October 21, 2000
State of Oregon
City of Port Orford
Cape Blanco Lighthouse
For our sixth wedding celebration, we were on our own again. Just the two of us. We stayed at an amazing place in Takilma, Oregon, the Out 'n' About Treesort. The Treesort is a series of tree houses, some connected by swinging bridges, some only accessible by ladders or stairs, but all very cozy high up in the trees. Our tree house was one room and situated high above the horse pasture where one horse in particular liked to rub against the tree and shake us a bit. We had to go to the main house for restroom facilities although we did have running water up in the tree.
We drove out to the Oregon coast and headed North on the coast highway to the Cape Blanco Lighthouse in Port Orford. The view from the top of the lighthouse was clear and we could see whales spouting just off the coast. With no officiant this year, we stood together beside the lighthouse overlooking the Pacific Ocean and recited our original wedding vows to each other. It was a stunningly beautiful day. Our fancy wedding feast took place at a local Pizza Hut with views of the sunset over the ocean.
The next day we drove east to Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake is the deepest fresh water lake in the United States. It was snowing as we walked along the rim of the crater admiring the deep blue water of the lake below. The beauty of the lake wowed us both.
Exploring both the coast and the mountains of Oregon, we were impressed that the state held such varied and beautiful sites.
