Washington

3rd Anniversary
October 18, 1997
State of Washington
City of Snoqualmie
Salish Lodge
For our third anniversary, we decided on Washington State. We flew out of Burbank, California with friends Steve Kosted and Lance Sticksel. We played Monopoly on the plane and Lance lost. (He claims it was because he was seated across the isle from us and couldn't properly see the board.)
We stayed at The Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland with a romantic view of Lake Washington. Eric had decided on The Salish Lodge for the ceremony after having seen it years before on the Twin Peaks television series. The Salish Lodge sits atop Snoqualmie Falls, which is about 25 miles east of Seattle. We visited the falls, had the ceremony in the intimate library of the lodge, lounged in the 'attic room' and dined in a private room with a view overlooking the falls. As a bonus, we learned an important wine lesson from the wine steward, "never smell the cork unless you plan to eat it."
While in the Seattle area, we went up the Space Needle (and met the mascot, Sneedle the Needle), rode the monorail, watched men throwing fish at Pike Place Market, visited the Ballard Locks, and ventured into the Big Four Ice Caves north of Granite Falls.
Little did we know that we would one day live just three miles from the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, Washington.
